(Serdang News on the 15th) The Prime Minister’s Political Secretary Joseph Chan today handed over a special Prime Minister’s allocation of RM500,000 to the Chinese Primary School Serdang Ridge for the purpose of building an additional four-storey teaching building at the school.

The school currently has about 1,100 students, but the school cannot cope with the increase in students year by year, so it plans to expand and build a four-story building with a total of 12 classrooms.

When he visited Serdang Ridge Chinese Primary School this morning and handed over the special allocation from the Prime Minister, he said that the relevant allocation was approved at the beginning of this year and was released last month. Today is a symbolic handover of the allocation.

He said that the Chinese Primary School Serdang Ridge receiving a special allocation from the Prime Minister was a good start, and he hoped that the school would gradually receive donations and support from all walks of life. If the project is halfway through and the government has sufficient resources by the end of this year or next year, or The second phase of funding will be considered based on phased needs.

“The government must pay attention to and take care of schools across the country, so resources will be spent in different places according to different needs, and I will give priority to schools that lack resources.”

Director Zheng Donghe pointed out that the current campus is in a C-shape, and the planned four-story teaching building will connect the left and right teaching buildings. Once completed, the campus will become a “mouth”-shaped school.

Bidding is expected to start next year

He revealed that the project is still in the process of drawing and testing at this stage. After completion, it will be submitted to the Subang Jaya City Hall for application. It is expected that public bidding and construction will begin next year.

He said that the entire project is expected to take eight months, so it is expected to be opened and enrollment will begin in 2027 at the earliest.

“In addition to adding classrooms, we also plan to add a roof to the open-air basketball court in the middle and turn it into a covered basketball court. We are still in the drawing and testing stage.”

Principal Ng Yuk-qun was honored that the school was able to apply for a special grant from the Prime Minister. He said that the number of students in the school has increased year by year, resulting in a shortage of classrooms. Therefore, the school had earlier applied for funding from the government to build additional classrooms.

Ye Weiqiang, chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association, pointed out that the association will continue to work hard with the school to improve school facilities.

Dai Qingyi, general manager of the board of directors of Serdang Ridge Chinese Primary School, hopes that the government can approve the school’s application and allow the Ministry of Education reserved land adjacent to the campus to be used as the school’s second land, so that students can have grassland and a healthier physical and mental development.

On behalf of the school, he also thanked the Prime Minister’s Department for its generous donation to the school. He said that since the school opened on August 3, 2015, the number of students has surged from about 200 that year to about 1,100 now.

“If the hardware does not continue to be expanded, it will not meet the requirements of local students and parents.”

Dai Qingyi said that in just 8 years, the school has built an auditorium, activity center, basketball court, and now it needs to build 12 more teachers. The hardware equipment can be said to be perfect, but the software facilities still need to continue to develop.

“Although this school is a Chinese primary school, non-Chinese students account for 20%, which shows that compatriots from other ethnic groups also agree with the school’s policy.”
