There are 13 PSP police officers and GNR soldiers who were the target of an internal investigation after sharing racist and homophobic posts on social media. The information was confirmed to Expresso by Anabela Cabral Ferreira, inspector general of Internal Administration (IGAI). “IGAI concluded an investigation that resulted in the opening of 13 disciplinary proceedings, which concern expressions that are considered discriminatory in various aspects, namely racist, homophobic and xenophobic.”
The number one of the body that oversees the actions of the security forces reveals that “other conducts were analyzed and that would deserve disciplinary censure”. In other words, the number of disciplinary proceedings was not higher because in some cases the police officers and guards being investigated are already retired and the respective statutes prevent the opening of disciplinary proceedings.
