In this regard, he said that the government should accelerate the establishment of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone and finalize it as soon as possible before the end of this year. It can be fully implemented in the first quarter of next year and inject a boost to the development of Johor.

He emphasized that, especially in terms of investment promotion policies, Johor is only separated from its neighboring country Singapore by the Johor Strait and is known as the “Southern Gateway”. Seventy percent of overseas tourists come from the Southern Gate through the Singapore-Johor Causeway. and the Malaysia-Singapore second channel for entry into Malaysia.

“Johor and Singapore complement each other. Just like the development models of Shenzhen and Hong Kong, the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone can refer to the development model of Shenzhen. I believe it can bring vibrant economic development to Johor.”

He said that with the arrival of data centers, it will further promote economic growth and create many job opportunities.

For example, he said that paying 1,300 yuan (approximately RM4,614) for room rent in Singapore would increase the operating cost burden for investors to set up factories in Singapore. On the other hand, Johor, which is across the water from Singapore, has a geographical advantage and the rent can become 1,300 ringgit, the vast land can bring more development opportunities and space for overseas companies, and move the company’s development territory to Johor to promote the economic and social development of Johor.

“I hope that Pasir Gudang can be included in the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone to further promote the local economy. Moreover, Johor has a stable government. I believe that the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone will become the biggest driving force for Johor’s economic take-off.”

On the other hand, he also pointed out that although MCA failed to regain the Johor Jaya state seat in the last Johor state election, MCA has never stopped. He also told Chen Shanshan whether she got the votes is another matter.

“The people need us (MCA), so we must go all out. We do not depend on votes, we must serve the people. If the Chinese community needs us, we will never stop. It doesn’t matter whether we get votes or not. The pace (of serving the people) has never stopped.”
