‘With or without clouds’ the official transmission of NASA’s Total Solar Eclipse will take place this Monday from the Torreón Planetarium

Teams from NASA and the Exploratorium museum carried out tests for the official transmission of the Total Solar Eclipse from the Torreón Planetarium.

“Everything looks good, the audio, the video, the connections, everything is working very well”explained Verónica García-Luis, from Exploratorium.

Given the meteorological conditions of cloudy skies in the city, the researcher explained that these conditions were maintained during Sunday morning, but as noon approached the sky opened, so the outlook is positive in that the totality, which It is expected to start at 12:16 p.m., it could be clearly observed if the weather behaves similarly this Monday.

“It opened and it was clear, we are waiting for it to continue like this, of course, this Monday, for us to have sun and no clouds”he commented.

He mentioned that the NASA team will transmit this signal to the entire world, so yesterday it was estimated that there could be around 53 thousand people who could observe the images live from the designated points, which are Torreón and Junction, Texas.

“A lot of people are going to be recording them and they are going to exist for a long time”he explained.

García-Luis explained that the Exploratorium is a science and art museum in San Francisco, one of the largest in the United States, which focuses a lot on holding workshops with teachers and working with young people, to detonate that spark and get them interested in the study of mathematics and science.

He said that the museum has been a NASA collaborator for 20 years and eclipses have been transmitted from different parts of the world, so it has extensive experience in this activity.

He recalled that when they began to prepare for this eclipse they looked for the best places to see it and that is how they located Torreón, later they learned about the Planetarium and that there was one of the best telescopes here, so it was determined that this would be the official point to the broadcast.

“With or without clouds the transmission will take place this Monday,” said García-Luis. In case of cloud cover, he considered that some details may not be appreciated, but the experience will be significant for the lagoon residents, who will see darkness for 4 minutes and will feel the change in temperature of 8 to 10 degrees less when the sun covers.
