President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received the head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of Major General Abbas Kamel, head of the General Intelligence Service.
Counselor Dr. Ahmed Fahmy, the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, stated that the meeting dealt with developments in the regional situation, most notably ways to achieve stability in the Middle East in light of the crisis in the Gaza Strip, and the escalation of regional tension the region is witnessing, in addition to touching on a number of African issues and files. Combating terrorism, and developments in the international situation, especially in Ukraine and Afghanistan.
The official spokesman added that the meeting witnessed a review of Egyptian efforts to calm the situation in the region through communication with all parties, while affirming Egypt’s vision of the necessity of an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the provision of humanitarian aid in sufficient quantities, as this is the basic step to defuse regional tension, while stressing the importance of Reaching a just and comprehensive settlement of the Palestinian issue, and establishing the Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, ensuring peace and stability in the Middle East.
In this regard, the keenness to continue consultation and coordination between the two countries on various files was affirmed, in a way that achieves the common interests of the two countries and the two friendly peoples, in light of their distinguished historical relations.
