Central Kalimantan Police Committed to Eradicate Land Mafia

The local regional police will not give space for the land mafia to act

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALANGKARAYA — The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the Central Kalimantan Police (Kalteng) is committed to eradicating the land mafia in the local province because it is very disturbing to the people in the area.

The Director of General Criminal Investigation of the Central Kalimantan Regional Police, Kombes Pol Faisal F Napitupulu in Palangka Raya, said Saturday that the local police will not give space for the land mafia to act in their jurisdiction of work.

“During my leadership there were two land mafias who were arrested. Both of them were in Palangka Raya City, the first was uncovered last year and the second was in 2023,” said Faisal.

The Main Official of the Central Kalimantan Regional Police with the rank of jasmine three said that his party would not discriminate in relation to land cases, and if there were reports from the public and they involved many people, of course this would become the attention of the police to uncover the case.

According to him, land cases also do not only occur in the Central Kalimantan region, but throughout Indonesia, cases like this are almost the same, especially related to the problem of overlapping land documents, land grabbing and other problems.

“We don’t want things like this to drag on in handling the problem and must be resolved immediately so that there are no casualties just because of land issues,” he said.

He appealed to all people in the province which has an area twice that of Java Island, when buying land with anyone it would be better if they first investigated the truth of their ownership.

“If you want to be safe and there will be no problems in the future, the land you want to buy can be checked again at the National Land Agency (BPN) office in their respective areas,” said Faisal.

“If the BPN states that the land is safe and there are no overlapping ownership, then people are comfortable buying the land they want,” he said again.

Previously, the Central Kalimantan Police arrested a land mafia named Madie Goening Sius (69), a resident of Jalan Hiu Putih who claimed 810 hectares of land.

Of the 810 hectares of land allegedly owned by the people of Palangka Raya City who have certificates of ownership rights (SHM), around 230 hectares have been sold and reaped a profit of around Rp. 2 billion.

As a result of the suspect’s actions, he is now languishing in the Central Kalimantan Regional Police Detention Center and is facing six years in prison.
