Chinese Ambassador to Cairo: Egypt has achieved great development achievements during the era of President El-Sisi

Liao Liqiang, Chinese Ambassador to Cairo, affirmed that Egypt has achieved great development achievements during the era of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, pointing out that President El-Sisi has expressed to President Xi Jinping more than once Egypt’s keenness to benefit from China’s experiences in development.

The Chinese ambassador said – in a speech he delivered this evening, during an event held for teachers and students from the Chinese language department at Cairo University, at the headquarters of the Chinese embassy – that Egypt was the first Arab and African country to establish diplomatic relations with the new Republic of China in 1956, and it was the first Arab and African country to establish a relationship Strategic partnership with China in 1999 since 2013, pointing out that China is Egypt’s largest trading partner for 9 consecutive years.

He stated that 2022 was an unusual year for Chinese-Egyptian relations, during which President Xi Jinping met with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi twice, and the State Adviser and Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang chose Egypt as the destination for his first foreign visit; This reflects Egypt’s important position in Chinese diplomacy, explaining that China has included Egypt in the list of the first batch of experimental countries to resume tourism for Chinese citizens. The first Chinese tourist group arrived in Egypt last January, after a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

He said that people-to-people exchanges between the two countries are expected to intensify, stressing that the strategic and comprehensive nature of the Egyptian-Chinese relations; It stands out in light of the deep and complex changes of the international and regional situations, indicating that the two sides are working together to advance Chinese-Arab and Chinese-African collective cooperation; This constitutes a model for cooperation among developing countries.

The Chinese ambassador stated that friendship between countries is based on friendship between peoples, as long as communication between Chinese and Egyptian youth is strengthened. Cooperation between the two countries is flourishing.
