Competition for DPR Seats in Lampung: Secretary General Gerindra Wins, Secretary General Golkar Falls

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Gerindra Party, Ahmad Muzani and the Secretary General of the Golkar Party, Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus are fighting for DPR seats in the same electoral district (dapil), namely Lampung I. Of the two main political party officials biggest in Indonesia, only one managed to win.

The winner is Muzani. Based on the KPU’s official vote count results, the Deputy Chair of the MPR was recorded as having won 110,161 votes in the electoral district which includes Bandar Lampung City and seven other districts/cities.

The Gerindra Party will almost certainly get two DPR seats in this electoral district, because it managed to collect a total of 398,593 votes. One of the seats obtained automatically belonged to Muzani because he was the Gerindra legislative candidate who won the most votes there.

Meanwhile, Lodewijk lost. The Deputy Chair of the DPR RI is the Golkar legislative candidate who received the second most votes, namely 50,093 votes. The first person to get the most votes was Golkar legislative candidate number 2, Rycko Menoza, who managed to collect 53,813 votes.

Meanwhile, the Golkar Party only got one DPR seat in the Lampung I electoral district. That one seat certainly belonged to Rycko as the legislative candidate who got the most votes. As a result, Lodewijk did not get a seat.

The chairman of the Nasdem Party DPP, Taufik Basari, had the same fate as Lodewijk. Despite his status as a member of the DPR and a top party official, Taufik Basari lost in the Lampung I electoral district.

The reason is that Taufik Basari, who is familiarly called Tobas, lost the vote. He collected 75,693 votes, the second highest among Nasdem legislative candidates.

The winner of the first most votes was Rahmawati Herdian because she managed to collect 94,133 votes. One DPR seat obtained by Nasdem in the Lampung I electoral district certainly belongs to Rahmawati.

If there is no decision on the election results dispute that significantly increases Lodewijk’s or Tobas’ vote share, then they will have to leave Senayan after their terms as members of the DPR expire at the end of 2024.

There is another top political party official who is contesting in the Lampung I electoral district. He is the Chairman of the PKS DPP Al Muzzammil Yusuf. His fate was luckier than Lodewijk and Tobas.

Muzzammil is the PKS legislative candidate who won the most votes there, namely 65,452 votes. He automatically sealed one DPR seat obtained by PKS. In this way, Muzzammil succeeded in retaining the DPR seat he now has.

The winner in the Lampung I electoral district will be known after Republika.co.id converting party votes into seats using the method Sainte Lague, the official formula regulated by the Election Law. In the Lampung I electoral district there are 10 DPR seats being contested.

The following is a complete list of parties that won seats and legislative candidates who won seats there:

– The Gerindra Party won two seats. The winners of the seats were Ahmad Muzani and Ruby Chairani Syiffidia

– PDIP also gets two DPR seats. The winners of the seats are incumbent DPR members Mukhlis Basri and Sudin

– PKB got one seat which was won by incumbent Muhammad Kadafi

– The Golkar Party gets one seat for Rycko Menoza

– Nasdem Party gets one seat for Rahmawati Herdian

– PAN also gets one seat. The winner of the seat is Princess Zulkifli Hasan. As stated in her name, Putri is the daughter of PAN General Chair Zulkifli Hasan

– The Democratic Party won a seat that belonged to incumbent DPR member Zulfikar Anwar

– PKS also got one seat for incumbent legislator Al Muzzammil Yusuf.
