Discuss the Decision of the Central Jakarta District Court, KPU Waiting for DPR Invitation

JawaPos.com – The General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia stated that it was waiting for an invitation from Commission II of the DPR RI to attend a hearing (RDP) regarding the appeal against the Central Jakarta District Court (Jakpus) decision.

“Indeed, yesterday we had information that we would be invited, but today the plan has not been made. So, because of that, we are just waiting for an official invitation from Commission II of the DPR RI regarding the decision of the Central Jakarta District Court,” said KPU RI member Idham Holik to journalists at the RI KPU Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (8/3).

Previously on Thursday (2/3), Chairman of Commission II DPR RI Ahmad Doli Kurnia said that his party plans to summon the Indonesian KPU which will appeal the decision of the Central Jakarta District Court ordering the KPU to stop the implementation of the 2024 election stages and start from scratch.

“We will summon the KPU because they want to appeal, but the appeal must be correct. That’s why we will summon the KPU as the organizer of the election to ensure that preparations continue,” he said.

Doli conveyed that Commission II of the DPR RI might summon the KPU RI before entering a new trial period, considering that the DPR RI is currently in recess until March 13, 2023.

“Yes, if necessary, if agreed, the commission leadership and Kapoksi (Heads of Faction Groups) are okay, before the trial period we have a meeting first,” said Doli.

During the trial at the Central Jakarta District Court, Jakarta, Thursday (2/3), the panel of judges granted the Prima Party’s lawsuit against the KPU not to carry out the remaining stages of the 2024 election and carry out the election stages from the beginning for approximately 2 years 4 months 7 days.

“Punished the defendant (KPU) not to carry out the remaining stages of the 2024 General Election since this decision was pronounced and carry out the general election stages from the beginning for approximately 2 years 4 months 7 days,” said the panel of judges chaired by Oyong, quoted from Decision Number 757/Pdt .G/2022/PN Jkt.Pst.

After learning about the decision, KPU RI Chairman Hasyim Asy’ari stated that his party would appeal.

“KPU will seek legal appeals,” said Hasyim.

Furthermore, KPU RI member Mochammad Afifuddin said that his party is currently preparing files for filing an appeal against the Central Jakarta District Court decision. Afif said that KPU RI plans to submit an appeal this week.
