‘Early election’ pressure from Super League teams on TFF!

The reaction of Super League clubs to the date of the Turkish Football Federation presidential elections is growing.

Following Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş, Adana Demirspor and İstanbulspor clubs also reacted to the Turkish Football Federation’s announcement that the elective general assembly will be held on July 18.

In their statement, both Super League clubs stated that the July 18 date set for the Turkish Football Federation presidential elections was too late and requested that the general assembly be held at an earlier date.

ADANA DEMİRSPOR

“We are of the opinion that the election decision to be held at the general assembly of the TFF Board of Directors on July 18, 2024, announced today, will be a late date in the current state of chaos experienced by Turkish Football. Regarding the issue, this date, which was determined without taking any suggestions and without the need for any democratic process, will be urgently transferred to 2023. – We share our opinion with the public that it needs to be done right at the end of the 2024 season.

‘IT WILL HARM TURKISH FOOTBALL’

In the new season, first of all, our priority should be to evaluate all the negativities that Turkish Football has experienced this season and all the steps and decisions to be taken to prevent it from happening again. In order for the 2024 – 2025 Trendyol Super League, which will start on August 9, 2024, to progress in a healthy and professional manner; It is a fact that it needs a renewed and properly organized Football Federation with all its boards. Managing the Turkish Football Federation with the same understanding and attitude until July 18, 2024 will only harm Turkish football.

“The aim and belief of bringing our football back to the position it deserves next season, with the right timing, by evaluating the issue of bringing the July 18 date forward as soon as possible, should be the priority of all dynamics of Turkish Football right now.”

With the statement made today, the whole public has confirmed that the people who need to go to the general assembly with extraordinary elections tomorrow in order to end the chaos that you have caused Turkish Football to end immediately, prefer to think about their own seats instead of thinking about Turkish Football. While it will take a very long time to even resolve the problems created by this approach, it is futile for those who want to protect their seats to try to postpone the election decision even further.

“The word comes out once!” As İstanbulspor, which adopts its approach as a motto, we reiterate that we stand behind our word; We call on other stakeholders of football, within the framework of the same approach, to do what is necessary to hold an extraordinary general assembly with elections as soon as possible in accordance with the TFF Statute, in order to end the chaos we are in without any delay. Keeping in mind that an election to be held on 18.07.2024 will cause the 2024/2025 season to be wasted; All football stakeholders must fulfill their responsibilities accordingly.

In this regard, if the TFF Management considers themselves a football stakeholder, Article 29/2 of the TFF Statute. In accordance with the article, in order not to hinder the newly elected management and to prevent the National Team from being affected by this chaotic environment before the European Championship; “With the expected statement of Mr. Mehmet Büyükekşi that he will not be a candidate again, we invite you to hold an extraordinary general assembly meeting with elections at the earliest possible date as of today, before the end of the leagues, and to save the future of Turkish football through this general assembly.”
