European skiers come to the ski resort in Hakkari

Merga Bütan Ski Center in Hakkari, one of the places where the ski season opens earliest and closes late, hosts groups from Europe with its tracks with 174 centimeters of snow.

Located 12 kilometers away from the city center, the ski resort at an altitude of 2,800 meters, where the city center and the white plateaus can be seen at the same time, is among the important winter tourism centers of the region with thousands of local and foreign tourists.

The snow depth in the center, which attracts the attention of ski enthusiasts with its natural tracks, 5 separate tracks of up to 10 kilometers and crystal snow structure, was measured as 174 centimeters due to the recent rains.

Ski lovers who come to the center, which also provides skiing opportunities to its visitors in the spring, have pleasant moments by snowboarding, skiing and sledding.

Mountain ski enthusiasts from different countries are also showing interest in the center, where the ski season is expected to last until mid-April. Foreign ski lovers who come to the city through tour companies have a pleasant time skiing in the ski resort and in the snow-covered mountains.

“We are hosting the third group from different countries of Europe”

Cilo Mountaineering and Nature Sports Club President Hacı Tansu told the AA reporter that they continue to promote the city’s potential in winter tourism.

Stating that they hosted the third group from different countries of Europe in the last month, Tansu said:

“The group that came today includes ski lovers from Germany and Italy. We skied in the morning. Now we are at the ski resort. Hakkari’s mountain ski season is quite long. Europeans are also just discovering this place. We will host groups from Europe here until the beginning of April. We We are also pioneering this work. There is no other ski resort in Turkey where there is this much snow and where you can ski comfortably. The hotel, ski lodge, chair lift and teleski are open here. Our slopes are very good. You can ski here easily until April. We welcome everyone here. “

Turkish Ski Federation Provincial Representative Halil Kurşun said that the city stands out with its geographical structure and snow quality.

Stating that ski lovers from many countries are interested in the ski resort, Kurşun said, “We have an untouched nature. Our facilities are getting better every year. The snow quality here is not found in many provinces in Turkey. In the evenings, the temperature drops to 10 degrees below zero. Our tracks are covered with quality snow. “We don’t know what the conditions will allow, but we predict that the season will continue in April. There is rain again this week. This will also provide an advantage.” he said.

Resul Aktaş from Ordu also explained that he works as a teacher in Van and came to the center to ski with his friends and said, “We continue to ski during Ramadan. The facility is very nice. I liked it very much. Frankly, I did not expect this much snow when we came. It was sunny when we arrived, but it is snowing now. “The atmosphere is nice. We are trying to have a good time.” said.

Yasir Çiftçi, who came from Van, stated that there was a lot of snow in the center even though it was spring, and that the facility was a good chance for the region.
