Foreign Minister on Israel’s crimes in Gaza: Accountability mechanisms are clear

Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri said that there are mechanisms to hold Israel accountable for the crimes it committed in the Gaza Strip.

He added during a press conference with the Irish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense, Mehul Martin, today, Wednesday, that these means come within the framework of the United Nations system, and it is a matter that has legal dimensions.

He pointed out that this path is proceeding in accordance with what the Palestinian Authority raises regarding the implementation of these mechanisms.

Regarding the implementation of the outcomes of the Arab Islamic Summit in Riyadh, Shukri explained that consultation is underway between countries through the contact group that includes the countries of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Turkey, Jordan, and Indonesia.

He stated that these countries are working to put the decisions into effect, explaining that work will be undertaken by this group, including communicating with international parties to formulate different visions on how to implement the decisions.

He explained that this group will work seriously to deal with the negative effects of this conflict, in a way that protects the Palestinian people, their legitimate rights, aspirations and hopes.

Today, Wednesday, Shoukry held a session of discussions with his Irish counterpart, which dealt with bilateral relations between Egypt and Ireland, in addition to regional and international issues of common concern, most notably the war on the Gaza Strip.
