Haedar Nashir: Old Couple Gathering at PBNU

“Eight of us PP Muhammadiyah members stayed in touch as previously conveyed by Gus Yahya as well as a return visit after PBNU was formed, Gus Yahya went to the PP Muhammadiyah Menteng office and now that we have held a conference even though we are old partners, we still visit and continue our friendship,” said Haedar in Jakarta on Thursday (25/5/2023).

Haedar continued that the two Islamic organizations have often had dialogues for a long time. According to him, currently both of them need to work together both in the context of the community and for the nation.

“Even at the global level, we also highly appreciate PBNU under the leadership of Gus Yahya, who has made many breakthroughs, including dialogue activities on the international stage as part of developing and realizing Islam that is rahmatan lil alamin,” said Haedar.

Gus Yahya said that so far good relations had been established between PBNU and Muhammadiyah. According to him, now is the time for the two organizations to do concrete things as joint work

“From our side, we frankly convey to KH Haedar that we need to learn a lot from Muhammadiyah about the real needs of the organization,” said Gus Yahya.

The PP Muhammadiyah group was received directly by PBNU General Chairperson KH Yahya Cholil Staquf who was accompanied by Deputy General Chairperson H Amin Said Husni, Secretary General H Saifullah Yusuf, and Deputy Secretary Generals Najib Azca and Suleman Tanjung.

While Prof. Haedar Nashir was accompanied by General Secretary Prof. H Abdul Mu’ti, General Treasurer Hilman Latief, Chairmen Prof. Anwar Abbas, Saad Ibrahim, and Agus Taufiqurrahman, as well as Secretaries Izzul Muslimin and M Sayuti.
