REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PESAWARAN — Vice presidential candidate (cawapres) number 3, Mahfud MD promised to eliminate bad credit for farmers and fishermen in Lampung Province if he and his duet partner, Ganjar Pranowo, succeed in emerging as winners in the 2024 presidential election.
“Take note of this, all farmers, fishermen, will be released if all this time, fathers and mothers, farmers and fishermen have received loans and cannot pay, they will be released, they will be exonerated,” said Mahfud in a campaign in Pesawaran Regency, Lampung Province, Thursday (25/ 1/2024).
Mahfud said that the amount of bad credit for farmers and fishermen was not too large. He said that eliminating bad credit would not burden state finances.
“We have calculated that the amount of farmers’ and fishermen’s credit which is currently stuck is IDR 688 billion,” said the coordinating minister for political, legal and security affairs.
Mahfud said that the amount of bad credit from farmers and fishermen was very small compared to the state money that was corrupted. ““Therefore, if corruption is eradicated, only 50 percent of Rp. 688 billion can be taken to be subsidized to pay off the debts of farmers and fishermen, which is only a small amount,” he said.
The program to erase bad credit for farmers and fishermen has also been launched in 21 flagship Ganjar-Mahfud programs to reduce the economic burden on farmers and fishermen who are trapped in monthly installments. Meanwhile their income is uncertain.
