Mahfud Submits Resignation Letter Directly to Jokowi

JAKARTA, BALIPOST.com – Mahfud MD’s resignation letter as coordinating minister for politics, law and security (menko polhukam) will be submitted directly to President Joko Widodo.

“I will report, I have finished,” said Mahfud in Lampung, quoted by the Antara news agency, Wednesday (31/1).

In a live broadcast monitored online from Jakarta, Wednesday, Mahfud said he would submit his resignation letter as soon as he received a schedule to meet with President Jokowi. Mahfud estimates that his resignation letter will be submitted on Thursday (1/2).

“And this letter will be delivered as soon as I get a schedule to meet with the President (Jokowi), but I will continue to carry it because this letter is what I was given the time to immediately deliver this letter,” said Mahfud.

He also said that his resignation from the position of coordinating minister for political, legal and security affairs had been agreed with the presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo and all political parties supporting the Ganjar-Mahfud candidate pair.

Previously, Mahfud expressed his desire to resign from the position of coordinating minister for political, legal and security affairs at the “Tabrak Prof” event in Semarang, Central Java, Tuesday evening (23/1). At that time, Mahfud said he was waiting for the right time to resign from President Jokowi’s government cabinet.

“Waiting for the timing and with respect for the President, Pak Jokowi, so we won’t offend anyone,” said Mahfud.

Mahfud said that his resignation would be carried out amicably, so that there would be no contradictions.

“What Mr. Ganjar conveyed to the public this afternoon was my agreement with Mr. Ganjar from the start, that at the right time, I would definitely tender my resignation amicably. “So, there is no conflict between me and Pak Ganjar,” said Mahfud at that time. (Kmb/Balipost)
