Advisor to the head of the Rosenergoatom concern, Renat Karchaa, announced the decision of the management of the Zaporozhye NPP to temporarily reduce the number of employees due to the increased threat of provocations from Ukraine. Interfax reports this.
Karchaa stressed that recently the Ukrainian army has been making more and more attempts to attack nuclear power plants using drones. At the same time, most of the impacts occur on civilian infrastructure and residential buildings.
According to him, the actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are aimed at increasing anxiety among the population and station workers.
The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, in turn, said that over the past week more than 20 explosions were heard at the plant.
Grossi clarified that he received reports from agency experts who are located in Energodar, which contain information about numerous explosions far from the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
“At the same time, I am very concerned about the possible risks that the station faces due to increased military tension in the area,” he said.
Earlier, Karchaa said that Ukrainian troops make at least 10 attempts per day to attack the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are constantly shelling the Zaporizhia NPP to identify vulnerabilities in its protection.
