Muhammadiyah Urges to Respect Election Results and Reminds MK to be Professional

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA – The General Election Commission (KPU) has carried out voting and calculating the results of the 2024 Election.

Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership (PP), Haedar Nashir, invited the public to respond to the election results as a political reality and a logical consequence of the democratic system chosen by the Indonesian people.

“Therefore, with various critical notes, the public can accept the election results wisely, wisely and with relief,” said Haedar in his written statement, Friday (22/3/2024).

A number of parties filed a lawsuit against the 2024 election results to the Constitutional Court (MK). Haedar respects the parties who submitted a lawsuit to the Constitutional Court as a constitutional, peaceful and elegant solution with the awareness that the Constitutional Court’s decision is final and binding for all parties to comply with.

“We ask the Constitutional Court to work more professionally and impartially in adjudicating and deciding election disputes,” he said.

Haedar added that fair and objective resolution of election disputes is a solution and provides political certainty.

For the Constitutional Court, resolving election disputes in an honest and trustworthy manner is a momentum to improve performance, improve image and restore public trust which has been declining.

“Hopefully in the next five years the Indonesian nation will be more advanced, just, prosperous, dignified and prosperous,” he said.

He congratulated the legislative members of the DPR, DPRD II, DPRD I, DPD, and the elected President-Vice President while still waiting for the election dispute to be resolved at the Constitutional Court (MK).

“Those who are elected must have the spirit of statesmen who are serious and full of responsibility in carrying out and carrying out the very heavy mandate of the people,” he said.

On Thursday (22/3/2024) morning, Amin’s National Team Legal Team filed a lawsuit for dispute over general election results (PHPU) with the Constitutional Court. They questioned the vote acquisition for the 2024 presidential election and the process of holding it, which they said was not honest and fair.

THN AMIN Chairman Ari Yusuf Amir said that the lawsuit to the Constitutional Court focused on the candidacy position of Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Prabowo’s running mate. Because the candidacy of the eldest son of Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is a source of problems in the 2024 presidential election polemic.

Meanwhile, presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo said that his party would file a dispute lawsuit on Friday (22/3/2024) or Saturday (23/3/2024).

Legal Deputy for the Ganjar-Mahfud National Winning Team (TPN), Todung Mulya Lubis, said that his party would ask the Constitutional Court to cancel the KPU’s decision regarding the results of the 2024 presidential election and disqualify the Prabowo-Gibran pair.

The Indonesian KPU on Wednesday (20/3/2024) evening determined the results of the 2024 Election through Decree Number 360. For the 2024 Presidential Election, the KPU determined that the Prabowo-Gibran pair received 96,214,691 votes or 58.58 percent of the total national valid votes of 164,227,475 .

Prabowo-Gibran has a landslide advantage over its competitors. The Anies-Muhaimin pair won 40,971,906 votes or 24.94 percent, while Ganjar-Mahfud got 27,040,878 votes or 16.46 percent.
