The Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) of Bangli Regency asked the Bangli Regency Government to immediately respond seriously to the fly infestation in Kintamani. This is because flies in Kintamani have been complained by many tourists because they really disturb comfort.

Chairman of the Bangli Regency PHRI, I Ketut Mardjana, said that many tourists felt uncomfortable staying in Kintamani because of the flies. This is because flies not only land on food but also attack tourists’ bodies and faces, making them really uncomfortable.

The large fly population in Kintamani has actually been a problem for a long time. However, it has not been resolved until now. Fly attacks in Kintamani now do not only occur before certain seasons. “In the past, when it rained, the flies usually disappeared, but now they don’t. Attacks all year round. “It was the worst in the last year,” said Mardjana.

The large fly population in Kintamani is thought to be due to the high level of agricultural activity that uses raw livestock manure as manure.

Mardjana said that hotel and restaurant entrepreneurs in Kintamani have been trying to control fly attacks using various methods. Starting from traditional methods to spraying using chemicals. However, all the efforts made have not been able to solve the problem.

According to Mardjana, his party had already discussed this by inviting the Ministry of Tourism and other related agencies in Bangli. However, until now there has been no follow-up action from the government.

Mardjana asked the Bangli Regency Government to be responsive. It is hoped that the Bangli Regency Government will step in and take concrete steps to overcome the fly population in Kintamani. “The district government should really care, take clear action to overcome this problem. This cannot be handled individually. “This fly problem has become a complaint for tourists,” he said.

The Bangli Regency Government must find a solution to ensure that agriculture can continue, on the other hand, tourism is not disturbed by fly attacks. In this context, he asked the Bangli Regency Government to be at the forefront of dealing with the fly problem. “So far there have been levies and taxes from the community. There should be something that can be used to overcome this problem. If the budget is really lacking, the district government might be able to ask for help from the province or the center. The main thing we hope for is that the District Government is responsive to the existing situation. “Don’t keep discussing but there is no way out,” he explained.

In an effort to overcome fly attacks, the Regency Government is also expected to provide waste transportation services to restaurants. He ensured that entrepreneurs would not mind if fees were charged as long as the waste transportation service was carried out regularly. “Basic things like that are not being done. “There should be a public service like that,” said Mardjana.
