Not Worried About Khofifah Supporting Prabowo-Gibran, Ganjar: Mahfud’s Character Is Strong in East Java

Presidential candidate number 3 Ganjar Pranowo while visiting the Cokro Springs Object (OMAC) in Juragan Jero, Daleman, Tulung District, Klaten Regency, Central Java, Wednesday (27/12/2023). On this occasion, Ganjar greeted residents who were touring Umbul Cokro or Cokro Springs Object after meeting tobacco farmers at the Empatlima Pager Tobacco Warehouse, Klaten.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KLATEN–Presidential candidate number 3 Ganjar Pranowo responded casually to the issue of Khofifah Indar Parawansa supporting candidate pair number 2 Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming.
“As a political choice, if I respect who supports whom, we just respect it,” said Ganjar, Wednesday (27/12/2023).
Apart from that, when asked about the strategy to gain votes in East Java, Ganjar said his team was already moving. The team consists of young cultural figures and the community. However, Ganjar admitted that he did not deny the importance of the role of elites in gaining votes.
“Oh yes, in East Java our team also operates community groups, religious groups of young people, cultural figures, they also communicate quite intensely, so there is a community base in the people but it cannot be denied that sometimes the elite are important,” he said.
Ganjar also said that East Java itself was the second source of votes after Central Java. This is considering the potential of Cawapres Mahfud MD.
“Of course the optimism is a bit different from Central Java, but East Java is one of the second provinces that has the potential to vote for Ganjar-Mahfud. Mr. Mahfud is from there,” he said.
Ganjar also believes that Mahfud MD’s strong relationship can influence vote acquisition in East Java.
“Because Mr. Mahfud and I will be touring East Java, I have to believe that because of Mr. Mahfud’s character, Mr. Mahfud’s performance, Mr. Mahfud’s relationship with East Java is very strong,” he said.
