XXIII Open Arts Festival “Cherry Forest”, which will be held in Moscow from April to August, opens on April 8 and 9 with the premiere of the performance of the Theater. Vl. Mayakovsky “Love according to Marquez”.
Chereshnevy Les is collaborating for the first time with the Mayakovsky Theatre, which is celebrating its centenary. “Love according to Marquez” is one of the most anticipated performances as part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the theater, and the second production of the new artistic director, Yegor Peregudov.
On the day of his 90th birthday, the main character sums up his life. Recalling one novel after another, returning his thoughts to each of his passions, he suddenly realizes that his youth was stormy and with passions, but completely in vain. But maybe the chance to experience true love is not lost yet? There is a lot of music and dancing in the play. The protagonist is surrounded by women, and even the live orchestra on the stage consists entirely of them. Here the funny argues with the ironic and is remembered by biting quotes about the incomprehensibility of life. The main roles are played by People’s Artists of Russia Igor Kostolevsky and Olga Prokofieva.
On April 15 and 16, the Shalom Theater will tell young viewers about the Creation of the World as part of the festival’s children’s program. A production for children will appear for the first time in the repertoire of this theater, which is experiencing a rebirth. True, director Damir Salimzyanov emphasizes: “for children from three to one hundred and three years old.” He draws a parallel between the child’s play and the creation of universes. The principle is similar: thanks to the imagination, a new reality arises from the void, the main thing is to believe in yourself and be a creator. The puppet show will show how everything is born from nothing and emptiness.
On April 26 and 27, the Shalom Theater will also present the play Tahir and Zuhra, based on the play by Zukhra Yanikova shortlisted for the Climax competition. The director is Murat Abulkatinov, a young graduate of Sergei Zhenovach’s course. An oriental legend about two lovers who, like Romeo and Juliet, are fighting to be together, has been transferred to the realities of a modern metropolis.
On June 16, RAMT will host the premiere of the play Leopoldstadt by the English playwright Tom Stoppard. This is a saga about the fate of a Jewish family, perhaps the most autobiographical work of the playwright, who became a classic during his lifetime. The name of the work was given by the district of Vienna, which at the beginning of the 20th century was the Jewish quarter. On the stage is the living room in the house of Hermann Merz, where the 55-year history of a large family unfolds: only a few out of 40 people come to the final. The director is the artistic director of RAMT Alexei Borodin. Leading theater artists of different generations are involved in the performance, including People’s Artists of the Russian Federation Evgeny Redko and Larisa Grebenshchikova. The translation of the play, which has already conquered the London audience, was made especially for the theater by Arkady Ostrovsky.
On July 25-30, the Historical Stage of the Bolshoi Theater will present four of the most famous “literary” ballets by Boris Eifman, forming a unique tetralogy “Another Space of the Word”. “Gull. Ballet Story” is a choreographic interpretation of Chekhov’s play, revealing to the audience the secrets and intrigues behind the scenes. Instead of a manor, there is a rehearsal hall, where the bold experimenter Treplev confronts the successful choreographer Trigorin, and the young dancer Zarechnaya competes with prima Arkadina. The performance to music by Sergei Rachmaninov and rock composition by Alexander Sitkovetsky appeared in the year of the 45th anniversary of the Boris Eifman troupe.
In “Eugene Onegin” the action is transferred from the 1990s to the present day: instead of a crimson beret, a crimson jacket, instead of a duel, a fatal stab, but love and mental anguish are as strong as those of Pushkin. An unusual combination of classics by Pyotr Tchaikovsky and rock music by Alexander Sitkovetsky emphasizes the originality of the choreographer’s idea.
“Beyond Sin” is Eifman’s unexpected reading of The Brothers Karamazov. Ballet to the music of Rachmaninoff, Wagner, Mussorgsky about rebellion and God-seeking, unbelief and faith, the nature of human sinfulness and spiritual salvation.
“Anna Karenina” is a famous choreographic experience of “psychoerotic” comprehension of the personality of Tolstoy’s heroine. Having removed all the secondary lines of the novel, the choreographer focused on the love triangle Anna – Karenin – Vronsky and created a tragic chronicle of the inner rebirth of a woman possessed by passion.
Cherry Forest this time united not only theater, painting, music, but also sports. Performances, concerts, exhibitions and, of course, favorite landings and landings will take place both at well-known and new venues.
