REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Chair of the DPP Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Puan Maharani said that communication with political opponents is a positive thing. Including his closeness to Anies Rasyid Baswedan and Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar (AMIN) after the presidential candidate (capres) debate on January 7.
“We try to always communicate, stay in touch, this contestation party is a contestation party, a people’s party. So we all hope that those who take part in this contestation party can run this democratic party honestly and fairly,” said Puan at Istora Senayan, Jakarta , Sunday (14/1/2024).
PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto himself admitted that there was communication with the AMIN National Team (Timnas). Puan also answered that formal and informal communication would be established after the voting on February 14 2024.
“Informally and formally, we will do what we will do after February 14. Yes, we have to build a nation together, it is impossible to build a nation alone,” said Puan.
Meanwhile, the General Chairperson of PDIP, Megawati Soekarnoputri, also set a winning target for Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD in one round. Puan responded that her party would try to make it happen in the last 26 days of the campaign.
“We will try, God willing, there are only 30 days left. So we will try the dynamics, right now everyone is trying and this is a challenge for us to be able to win next February 14,” said the Chairman of the DPR.
Ganjar himself has spoken about the opportunity to collaborate with the AMIN camp for the second round of the 2024 presidential election. He did not answer firmly about this opportunity, but Ganjar said his communication with candidate pair number 1 was very good.
Moreover, he, Mahfud MD, Anies, and Muhaimin are alumni of Gadjah Mada University (UGM). Plus, he is also the General Chair of the Gadjah Mada University (Kagama) Alumni Family for the 2019-2024 period.
“Me, Cak Imin, Mas Anies, and Prof Mahfud, the four of us studied at UGM, the alumni chairman is me. When it comes to communication, the four of us are very used to communicating,” said Ganjar to journalists.
