Says Muhammadiyah Residents Are Only Busy Organizing, Muhadjir: Moves the Da’wah to Religious Studies

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy asked Muhammadiyah to unite and promote the preaching of the Koran. The Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership said that the problem faced by Muhammadiyah members now is that they are only busy organizing, lack unity, and do not feel like they are part of Muhammadiyah.
“Many Muhammadiyah members do not feel that they are not members of Muhammadiyah because they have never been invited to recite the Koran. Our duty as Muhammadiyah members is not to forget that we have to mobilize recitation activities, mobilize the congregation, not just jam’iyah or organizational activities,” said Muhadjir in a press release, Monday (29/1/2024).
He conveyed this when filling out the tausyiah at the Muhammadiyah Jasinga Branch Recitation activity and laying the first stone of the Bina Khairu Ummah Muhammadiyah Boarding School (MBS) in Setu Village, Jasinga District, Bogor Regency, West Java, Sunday (28/1/2024).
On that occasion, he asked Muhammadiyah residents in the Jasinga District Branch Management to develop Muhammadiyah as best as possible. “Develop the congregation. Don’t make it a Muhammadiyah organization that doesn’t have a congregation,” he said.
He asked the Jasinga District Muhammadiyah Branch Leader to carry out activities that could maintain the unity of the Muhammadiyah community as often as possible. For example, he said, it could be through da’wah activities and periodic recitations.
“Creating a Muhammadiyah Boarding School means that the school is just a medium. If there are no people, it’s useless. So make as many recitations as possible. To develop the people, to foster da’wah,” he explained.
On this occasion Muhadjir also interacted with the congregation present and held dialogues and interactive quizzes. On that occasion were present the Chairman of the Bogor Regency Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership, Ahmad Yani, the Chairman of the Jasinga District Muhammadiyah Branch, Aris Rismansyah, the Bogor Regency Aisyiyah Regional Leader, the Jasinga Branch of Aisyiyah.
