Statement from TFF regarding the agenda: No one should have any doubts

In the statement made on TFF’s website, the following statements were made:

As Turkish Football Federation; Since the first day we took office, we have made a sincere effort to strengthen the environment of common sense, cooperation and dialogue in our football, and we have worked hard to include all our stakeholders in this effort. We received support from many of our sports clubs in this regard; We have made great efforts to establish a unifying and conciliatory understanding in football.

However, recently we have sadly seen that; As we enter the last weeks of the league, some unfortunate statements coming from the valuable managers of our sports clubs, far from contributing to the solution, fuel the conflict and seriously damage Turkish football.

Each of our clubs, which put sportsmanship, respect and “fair play spirit” aside in order to gain superiority and priority in the competition, actually also have the culture, identities and deep-rooted traditions that shape Turkish sports.

However, unfortunately, today’s representatives of these distinguished sports clubs make it a habit to make statements that contradict their centuries-old culture, clearly harming Turkish football and social peace. Football, which enables millions of people with different cultures, views and origins to come together in the joy of victory and the sadness of defeat by falling in love with the same colors, should be unifying, not divisive. While encouraging the opponent to do better and achieve greater success raises the quality of football, insulting discourses, so to speak, muddy the green fields, make football unpleasant and unplayable, and drag down the sports culture.

Constantly disturbing the Turkish society, which loves football unconditionally and adopts sharing in joy and sorrow as its motto, with these statements does not benefit anyone, and in the final analysis, our clubs will pay the price for such statements that will lower the value of the country’s football.

As children of a culture where the good is glorified and the bad is condemned, we once again invite all stakeholders of football to act with common sense and moderation.

No one should have any doubt that we will continue to implement disciplinary instructions and criminal sanctions within the framework of the law without compromising against lowly discourses and attitudes that demand privilege, not justice.
