Surat: Unique initiative of the police, provided loan to the needy after saving them from usurers

A unique initiative has been taken by the Surat City Police to facilitate loan assistance to the needy citizens caught in the grip of usury. As part of this new approach to curb the corruption of usury, loan assistance ranging from 10 thousand to 3.50 lakhs was sanctioned by the city police, acting as a bridge between the needy citizens and various cooperative societies, cooperative and government banks.

In the last one month, 847 cases of usury have been registered in the state and more than 1000 people have been freed from the evil of usury.
