The National Bank of Ukraine announced its readiness to discuss restrictions for draft dodgers | Army | Society

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) intends to participate in the discussion regarding the introduction of banking restrictions for draft dodgers in the new draft law on mobilization, said the head of the NBU Andriy Pyshny.

“We took note of this bill, I think that when it is worked out in parliament, we should have discussions and an exchange of views,” RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.

According to Pyshny, the regulator will take part in the discussion if necessary. “I think it (the discussion – editor’s note) will lead us to the optimal solution,” he noted.

Earlier it was reported that the Government of Ukraine submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a bill tightening the rules of mobilization. The document will most likely be sent for revision due to a number of controversial issues. Parliament plans to adopt the bill by the end of January or beginning of February 2024; deputies can hold the first vote on January 10–14.

Let us remind you that the new bill provides for the abolition of military service, deferment of mobilization for disabled people of the third group, registration of those liable for military service in the conscript’s electronic account, medical examination and appearance at the military registration and enlistment office upon summons. In addition, the document requires all persons liable for military service to appear at the military registration and enlistment office within 60 days after the announcement of mobilization or 20 days after its extension, even if they did not receive a summons.

It should be noted that pro-Russian Ukrainian politician Oleg Tsarev said, based on the published indicators of Ukraine’s military budget deficit for 2024, that the Kyiv authorities intend to mobilize 610 thousand people instead of the promised 450-500 thousand.
