“In accordance with the regulations, the National Police’s job is to carry out a series of security stages for the 2024 Election properly,” said National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo on the sidelines of the launch of the planting of 10 million tree seedlings in the Pangeran Timoer Caruban GOR area, Madiun Regency, East Java, quoted from the Antara news agency. , Wednesday (15/11).
In order to realize this task, he asked all staff in the National Police to be neutral and not get involved in carrying out practical political activities at every stage of the 2024 Election in order to maintain state and social life and maintain professionalism.
The neutrality of the National Police in the 2024 Election has been regulated in Law (UU) Number 2 of 2022 concerning the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia Article 28 paragraph (1) which states that the National Police must be neutral in political life and not get involved in practical politics. In paragraph (2), the Police are also not allowed to exercise their right to vote and be elected.
“Therefore, the most important thing that we must take care of is how the series of election stages can run smoothly, safely and peacefully to elect national leadership candidates who are ready to lead Indonesia and realize the Vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045,” he said.
The National Police has also issued instructions and directions to its staff to maintain neutrality in the 2024 elections as stated in Telegram Letter (ST) Number 2407/X/2023.
This telegram letter is a guideline for all members of the National Police to maintain neutrality in the implementation of the 2024 elections.
