There is a possibility of not being able to get a mandate… It turns out that civil rights were taken back before the election

It was announced that Van Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Abdullah Zeydan’s legal rights were withdrawn in the 31 March local elections. DEM Party announced that the legal rights of the elected Van Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayor Abdullah Zeydan were withdrawn upon the objection of the Ministry of Justice, two days before the election. While DEM Party members reacted to the incident, it was learned that there was a possibility that Zeydan would not be able to get the certificate of election.
According to inconclusive results in the 31 March Local Government General Elections in Van, Abdullah Zeydan won the Metropolitan Municipality Mayorship. In its statement, the DEM Party announced that the Ministry of Justice, in an administrative letter on March 29, objected to the legal rights of Zeydan, who received his legal rights in 2022 and passed all legal inspections. Accordingly, the authorized prosecutor’s office re-applied to the court that gave the final injunction decision upon this administrative objection letter.
According to the statement, the court reversed the finalized civil rights decision on the same day and rejected the civil rights request. He immediately reported the decision to the Supreme Electoral Council, without exercising the right to object or appeal.
UNCERTAINTY OF SUBMISSION
It was stated that the withdrawal of prohibited rights, which means the rights that a person was deprived of due to his conviction, made Zeydan’s presidential process difficult. If the Ministry of Justice objects through the YSK, there is a possibility that the certificate of attorney may not be given to Zeydan. In this case, appointing a trustee or granting the certificate of election to AK Party’s Abdulahat Arvas, the candidate who came second in the election results, were among the possibilities that came to the fore.
