Today is the first competition in Szczyrk. The best ski jumpers return to the Skalita (HS104) hill after twelve years, when the first Summer Grand Prix competition was organized. They will perform, among others defending champion Dawid Kubacki, Kamil Stoch and Piotr Żyła. See where and what time.
On Saturday, ski jumpers will fight for points for the second time in this year’s edition of the Summer Grand Prix. From the French town of Courchevel, the competition moves to Poland, specifically to Szczyrk. There will be two individual competitions for men and women over the weekend.
The Skalite ski jump (HS104) in Szczyrk will be full of outstanding competitors. The LGP season will start with the main players of the Polish national team. Team coach appointed Kacper Juroszek, Maciej Kot, Dawid Kubacki, Klemens Muranka, Kamil Stoch, Paweł Wąsk, Marcin Wróbel, Aleksander Zniszczoła and Piotr Żyła.
Qualifying took place on Friday. The winner of the second LGP Bulgaria competition turned out to be the best Vladimir Zografsky. As many as seven charges of the Austrian Thomas Thurnbichler were in the top ten. The highest ranked player was the former defender of the title Kubacki, who was ranked third.
A set of Poles will perform on Saturday afternoon.
There will also be stars in other teams. In Saturday’s competition there will be a team world champion and an Olympic medalist from Germany Stephan Leyhe. Norway will be represented by 2018 team olympic champion Robert Johansson.
After twelve years, Szczyrk returns to the LGP ski jumping calendar. This is a great distinction for this complex, because so far the competition in winter or summer has been associated with the Vistula or Zakopane. The first competition of the Summer Grand Prix won Thomas Morgenstern. The Austrian was the best in 2011.
This is not the last contact of ski jumpers with this hill this season. The athletes will return in January as part of the World Cup competition. The competition will take place on January 17, and Szczyrk will be the middle competition of the Polish Tournament.
The leaders of the LGP are Swiss Gregor Deschwanden and Zografski. The best of the Poles, Zniszczol, is in ninth place. Just behind him is another of the Biało-Czerwoni Murańka.
