Trinamool Congress accuses ‘Rainbow’ alliance of joining hands with ISF

The Trinamool Congress on Saturday alleged that the ‘rainbow’ nexus of Left, Right and Naxalite groups in West Bengal has joined hands with groups like the Indian Secular Front (ISF) to foment unrest in the state. The BJP, on the other hand, responded to these allegations by saying that the Trinamool Congress and its corrupt government were scared of the growing anger of the people and their shrinking Muslim vote bank after the arrival of the ISF.
Trinamool Congress national spokesperson Sukhendu Shekhar Roy told PTI that the ‘Rainbow Alliance’ of the BJP, CPI(M), Congress and Naxalites, at a rally under the banner of ‘Nagrik Morcha’ in Kolkata on January 25, attacked the South 24 Parganas area by the ‘communal’ ISF. Joined hands to attack Trinamool Congress offices in Bhanagar. ISF MLA Naushad Siddiqui and 17 other party workers were arrested for their alleged involvement in the violence in Esplanade area on January 21, the party’s foundation day.
The party had accused the Trinamool Congress for uprooting its flag. The party was formed just before the state assembly elections in 2021 and joined hands with the ‘United Front’ of the CPI(M) and the Congress against the ruling Trinamool Congress and the BJP. “Like elsewhere in the state, our strategy in Bhangar too is to deal with attempts to incite unrest in a political and democratic manner,” claimed Roy. The ISF attacked our workers without any provocation, but we did not let the situation escalate.
