Ukraine again asks allies for more air defense, “most difficult” situation in the Donetsk region: the essence of the 783rd day of war

Ukraine has again called on allies to take “extraordinary and courageous measures” to provide air defenses to help counter waves of Russian airstrikes that have targeted the energy system in recent weeks.
“We urgently need more Patriot and other modern air defense systems, weapons and ammunition,” Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said at a Black Sea security conference.
“Ukrainian air defense now protects not only Ukrainian skies from Russian air terrorism, but also neighboring Moldova, Romania and Poland from the immediate threat of missiles and drones entering their airspace,” he added, in statements cited by Reuters.
In the same sense, the Ukrainian President condemned Iran’s attack against Israel and stated that the country needs the help of its allies to defend itself from aerial threats, just like Israel. “The whole world sees what true defense means. See that it is possible. And the whole world saw that Israel was not alone in this defense, since the aerial threat was also countered by the allies”, considered Volodymyr Zelensky.
“And when Ukraine says that allies cannot turn a blind eye to Russian missiles and drones, that means it is necessary to act, and act firmly,” he added, noting that Ukraine’s skies “are not protected by rhetoric.”
Zelensky again called on the US Congress to pass a vital aid package that has been blocked for months. House Speaker Mike Johnson said Sunday that he would try to secure approval for aid to Israel this week in the wake of Iran’s attack, but did not clarify whether the legislation would include assistance to Ukraine and other allies.
