The accused, who became a ritualistic Mahant by hiding his identity for 11 years after being given leave after being sentenced to life imprisonment for the crime of murder 15 years ago, has been arrested by the District Parole Furlough Squad from Jaipur, Rajasthan.

In the crime registered at Amraiwadi police station of Ahmedabad city, Baburam Videshiyaram Sharma (resident of Jadav Sheth Ki Street, Amrai Wadi, Ahmedabad) attacked Bholaram with a sword after a dispute over rickshaw parking with his neighbor Bholaram Durga Prasad Sharma in August 2008. And murdered him. In August 2011, the life sentence of prisoner Baburam Videshiyaram Sharma was announced in the City Sessions Court, Ahmedabad. After which he ran away after getting 14 days furlough leave in December 2013.

During the furlough leave, the accused had written his residential address as his wife’s maternal home Bhanpur, Padra Vadodara. He was staying there during holidays. After which he was absconding till today.

Meanwhile, after getting information through Parole Furlough Squad, it was found that Baburam left Gujarat and runs a hair salon in Ayodhya. But he has been roaming in North India for a long time by changing his name and identity. Due to Baburam being in Punjab-Haryana, the team was investigating in Punjab-Haryana for 7 days. Meanwhile, it was reported that Baburam was running a new business as a ritualistic Brahmin in an ashram in Jaipur, Rajasthan. On the basis of the information received, efforts were made to find the accused in Jaipur, which has a population of 50 lakh. In the difficult task of finding needles from heaps in Jaipur metropolis, the team started participating in Aarti puja in various ashrams and sadhus’ Akharas day and night for the last 4 days. Got introduced to saints and sages. Meanwhile, information was received that Mahant Shankar Narayan, despite not being a Brahmin, performs paid puja as a ritual. On the basis of this, Baburam was arrested while performing Vaastu puja in a house in Jamdoli village.
