On Sunday we watched Halvor Egner Granerud’s tenth victory of the season, which was the best in both series. Also on the podium were Andreas Wellinger and Stefan Kraft. We didn’t have much to enjoy. Dawid Kubacki failed the jump in the 1st series, improved in the 2nd, which gave him the 7th place. We had two jumpers in the third ten: Aleksander Zniszczoł (21) and Piotr Żyła (25).
In the first competition in Lake Placid, Dawid Kubacki was finally ahead of Halvor Egner Granerud, but both were off the podium. The best in qualifying and also in the competition was Andreas Wellinger, and Ryoyu Kobayashi and Daniel Tschofening also stood on the podium. Kubacki finished 5th (after the 1st series he was 10th), and among the Poles Aleksander Zniszczoł (13th) and Piotr Żyła (19th) also scored. The second individual competition of the World Cup in Lake Placid on Sunday at 16.15.
This is a big event in this year’s World Cup. The competition for points returns to the United States after a 19-year break, and for LakePlacid it is the first competition of this rank in 33 years. The jumpers will compete on the HS128 hill. The unofficial hill record is 135.5 m by Veli-Metti Lindstroem 21 years ago.
