15 people were arrested in Tajikistan for attempting a terrorist attack on the Navruz holiday

Tajik law enforcement officers arrested 15 people on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack on the Navruz holiday, which is celebrated in the country in honor of the arrival of spring. A RIA Novosti source in the Tajik intelligence services reported this on Friday, March 29.

“The special services of Tajikistan arrested 15 residents of Dushanbe and Vakhdat who were planning terrorist attacks on the Navruz holiday (March 21–23); now investigators are checking their connections with the persons who committed the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall on March 22,” the agency’s interlocutor indicated.

A source for the Asiaplustj portal in the State Committee for National Security confirmed this information. According to him, the results of further investigation will provide answers to questions about the involvement of the detainees in the tragedy in the Moscow region.

On March 22, a group of armed people* entered the building of the multi-level concert hall “Crocus City Hall” in the Moscow region and opened fire on visitors to the center, after which they set fire to the hall in which there were people who had come to the concert of the “Picnic” group. According to the latest data, the victims of the terrorist attack were approximately 144 peoplethe number of victims increased to almost 382.

Several citizens of Tajikistan were arrested on suspicion of organizing a terrorist attack. In this regard, Russian special services closely cooperate with the special services of the republic in the counter-terrorism direction. In addition, investigative measures are being carried out in Dushanbe with the relatives of those accused of the Crocus terrorist attack. It also became known that nine residents of Dushanbe were detained on suspicion of involvement in organizing a massacre in Tajikistan.

On March 28, the Investigative Committee reported that there was evidence of a connection between the direct perpetrators of the terrorist attack at Crocus and Ukraine. Thus, according to the department, the militants received money and cryptocurrency from the Ukrainian side.
