The Councilor for Cleaning of the Arrecife City Council, Jacobo Lemes, has urged the municipal contracting body to initiate the opening of six new penalty files against the cleaning service concessionaire company, Urbaser, for breach of contract, the amount of which amounts to 348,000 euros.
Two of the aforementioned disciplinary proceedings have been classified as serious and the other four as very serious.
As the mayor explains, One of these files is motivated by the lack of maintenance or improper use of municipal machinery and facilities transferred to the service, three by the lack of container cleaning and maintenance service and the remaining two by deficiencies in the garbage collection service. which has caused overflow in different parts of the city.
“After opening and reiterating different information files to monitor the service and informing the company that it had to proceed to correct all the deficiencies, and not receiving a response, the next step is the initiation of an administrative procedure for imposing penalties,” said the mayor, who insists that, far from solving these incidents, the winning company persists in them, “causing unhealthiness problems and damaging the image of the service.”
Thus, Lemes insists that “We cannot allow a service that is vital for the well-being of the entire population of Arrecife to not be provided with all the guarantees”.
