Telecinco returns to the search for the ‘X Factor’

Because in ‘Factor Personality, charisma, the ability to excite and the brilliance that only some lucky people in music achieve come into play. «He is the duende, as they would say in Andalusia. That thing that you have and cannot explain, but it makes that person captivated. The vocal technique can then be studied and perfected,” says Martín, who is surprised by the talent that has set foot on the stage of this set located in the Mediaset studios in Villaviciosa de Odón (Madrid).

In his first job on television, Willy Bárcenas highlights that he has been impressed by listening to the personal stories of the contestants. «He was a debutant on television and not only as a jury. He didn’t have that experience and, to be honest, he had a bit of imposter syndrome. What am I doing surrounded by these great artists? » Jokes the singer of the group Taburete, who says that one of the ‘X Factor’ hopefuls performed ‘Sirenas’, one of his biggest hits, in front of him. “I owe everything to that song but I’m already a little tired,” the singer commented with a laugh, while adding that he looks for originality among the candidates. “There are always great voices, but you look for that different touch that makes it unique,” he adds.

For Abraham Mateo, being surrounded by good colleagues in the program has been “fundamental” because he also had no experience being a jury. “We have had healthy teams to form the best possible team,” says the singer from San Fernando (Cádiz). «We lived incredible moments, of being moved. We have forged a friendship that hopefully will last forever,” says the artist, who believes that the ‘X Factor’ lies in surprise and freshness, beyond vocal qualities: “It conveys something to you. “Sometimes it’s a matter of ‘feeling’ and seeing what it feels like.”

For her part, the Argentine Lali Expósito appreciates the “privilege” of being able to work on a show like ‘Factor X’, where there is the possibility of listening to the artists. «I came with high expectations. “I like live music and I have been surprised by the talent of young people who bring their own music,” reveals host Ion Aramendi, who also praises the program’s jury. According to what he defends, the group of four judges “does not speak from extreme harshness or bring down anyone.” «They do it from humanity. We have created this small family because they are people who have a lot of love,” he says.

Created in 2004 by Simon Cowell, ‘X Factor’ has been exported to 55 countries, becoming a global and social phenomenon with more than 500 million viewers worldwide. Great international celebrities such as Robbie Williams, Britney Spears, Katy Perry and Demi Lovato have passed through the judges’ chairs. Previously, in Spain there were three other editions: two that were broadcast on Cuatro with Nuria Roca, between 2007 and 2008; and the last one (2018), also on Telecinco, but with Jesús Vázquez as master of ceremonies. For the new stage of the Mediaset program, which is produced in collaboration with Fremantle Spain, the jury forms its teams by choosing its candidates in the first phase of the contest, in a ‘casting’ manner, competing with each other to guide them to victory in a struggle that develops over twelve programs. However, in this renewed version, participants will not be divided into gender or age categories. Only six artists will be able to reach the grand final and the one who has the approval of the audience will win.
