Convicted terrorist in Batla House encounter case died in AIIMS, Shahzad was locked in Tihar

New Delhi (Best Hindu News): Indian Mujahideen terrorist Shahzad Ahmed alias Pappu (33), convicted by a Delhi court in the 2008 Batla House encounter case and serving life sentence, died during treatment on Saturday morning. He was undergoing treatment at AIIMS Hospital for inflammation of the pancreas. Ahmed was a resident of Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh. On February 6, 2010, he was kept in Tihar Jail in the Batla House encounter case. He was later shifted to Mandoli Central Jail No. 15 on July 7, 2022.
Apart from the Batla House encounter, he was also facing trial in six other cases. A case was also registered against him with the Bengaluru Police. On December 8, 2022, Ahmed was admitted to GTB Hospital for treatment of acute necrotizing pancreatitis associated with gallstones with modified CTSI.
His condition worsened and he was referred to Safdarjung Hospital on 27 December. On January 11, he was admitted to AIIMS for further treatment. He was undergoing treatment at AIIMS, where he died, police said. Doctors told us that he died at around 7:42 am.
The Special Cell raided Batla House in Jamia Nagar to nab the terrorists involved in the Delhi serial blasts. Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma was injured in this encounter and later died.
