March 23 criminals from the VI Police Station in Krakow detained two men and a woman suspected of robbery of a 44-year-old man. Two days earlier, a criminal trio had stolen a backpack with groceries and a wallet with documents and cash from the victim. Those arrested face up to 12 years in prison.
A 25-year-old resident of Dąbia called her 44-year-old friend with a request to meet and grant her a small loan. The man agreed to help the woman and met her the same day around 10:00. 20, in one of the shops in Bieżanów. Together with the 25-year-old, her friend did some shopping and then went with her to the area of the 44-year-old’s garage. When they were close to their destination, two men in black balaclavas emerged from one of the alleys, ran up to the 44-year-old, demanded him to hand over the money and sprayed gas in his face. The attackers knocked their victim to the ground, beat him, kicked him and gassed him again. Later, they snatched his backpack, which contained groceries, a wallet with documents and cash, and fled. A 25-year-old woman who was assisted by a 44-year-old also escaped. The beaten man reached one of the nearby garages on his own, where he asked the people there for help. The men helped the injured and notified the emergency services of the incident. The medical rescue team who arrived at the scene treated the man and transported him to one of Krakow’s hospitals.
As a result of the robbery, the 44-year-old lost a backpack valued at PLN 50, shopping worth PLN 70 and a wallet with documents and cash in the amount of PLN 1,200.
The robbery was dealt with by police officers from the VI Police Station in Krakow, who secured traces, talked to the victim, interviewed witnesses, secured recordings from monitoring cameras and collected a number of information, thanks to which they selected potential perpetrators of the crime. Investigators determined that a 25-year-old friend of the victim and her 30-year-old partner were behind the robbery. Following this lead, on the same day, the criminals went to one of the apartments in Podgórze, where the suspects had recently lived. No identified persons were found at the site, but investigators searched the premises used by the couple. During the inspection, they found and secured, among others: stolen 44-year-old shopping. March 23 Police officers went to another apartment, this time in Dąbie, where, as they determined, a 25-year-old and her 30-year-old partner may be staying. When the officers arrived at the place, they arrested the wanted people there. The 44-year-old’s stolen backpack and purchases were returned to him.
Police officers from the “six” also established that a 25-year-old friend of the couple could also be involved in the robbery. March 23 in one of the apartments in Bieńczyce he was detained by officers. In the rooms used by the man, criminals found and secured, among others: pepper spray canister.
The arrested persons were charged with robbery. The three suspects pleaded guilty to the charges against them and made statements. The Penal Code for this offense provides for a penalty of up to 12 years in prison. As the detained 25-year-old acted in conditions of recidivism, the sentence imposed on him may be higher – even up to 18 years in prison.
