On Monday, Magda Linette finished her participation in the WTA 1000 singles tournament in Miami. The Polish tennis player lost to Jessica Pegula in the fourth round, although she was leading 5:2 in the second set and had a two-break advantage. It is already known whether the points scored in Florida will allow the Polish woman to keep her place in the top twenty of the world ranking.

The tournament in Miami is one of the best scored in the entire tennis season. Bigger prizes can only be gained during the Grand Slam or Finals competitions, which end the season.

Advancing to the fourth round of the tournament held in Florida meant for Magda gaining 120 points in the world ranking. From this year’s achievements, of course, the achievements from twelve months ago should be subtracted. Then our tennis player was eliminated in the second round (she scored 35 points). That is, thanks to victories over Yevgeny Rodina and Victoria Azarenka Polka gained 85 points cleanly.

Two tennis players had a chance to overtake Magda, who on Monday will be able to boast of the biggest score in her career (1855 points) yesterday – Martina Trevisan and Anastasia Potapova. The former, however, easily lost in the quarterfinals to Elena Rybakina, the second one, after a fierce fight, turned out to be weaker than Pegula. This turn of events means that Linette will still be ranked 19th in the next announced ranking.

Despite the gains in Miami, the point loss of the Polish woman to the competitor, who will be in the eighteenth position, will increase. So far, she was classified just before our tennis player Ekaterina Aleksandrova, which was 235 points ahead. Next Monday, Azarenka will fall to the eighteenth place, which will have as many as 327 points more. Magda’s advantage over the competitor will also decrease, which will be classified in the 20th position (previously it was Donna Vekic – loss of 108 points, from April 3 it will be Trevisan – loss of 76 points).

Linette is planning to compete in another US tournament next week – this time it will be the 500 rank event in Charleston. It will defend the 100 points won last year (reached the quarter-finals). Success will not be easy, because there are many top tennis players on the entry list, from Aryna Sabalenka and Pegula at the helm.

Before the Polish woman starts competing in the next tournament, she will have at least one more match in Miami. In a doubles tournament, playing in a duet with an American Bernarda Peraour tennis player has already reached the semi-finals, and for promotion to the final trophy-decisive meeting, the two will face the Canadian Leylah Fernandez and an American Taylor Townsend.
