TPO – At around 3:00 p.m. on April 15, a forest fire broke out in the border area between Trung Chai commune and Nam Ban commune, Nam Nhun district (Lai Chau). After about six hours of firefighting, the fire was basically controlled by the authorities and people.
According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Luong – Deputy Head of the Nam Nhun District Forest Ranger Department, immediately after receiving the information, Nam Nhun district leaders directed the forces to mobilize nearly 100 people to approach the scene to participate in firefighting. .

At around 4:30 p.m., the forces of the district and two communes of Trung Chai and Nam Ban approached the fire site and quickly cleared it, creating a fire runway to prevent the fire from spreading into the forest.

By 9 p.m., the fire was basically controlled. Authorities continue to be on duty and estimate the damage later.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Luong said that the cause of the fire could be due to people going into the forest to burn beehives to get honey.
In recent days, due to the hot and dry weather, the temperature in Nam Nhun district has always been at 37-38 degrees Celsius, raising the warning level for forest fires.
Authorities have increased patrols and forest inspections to promptly detect and control fires that may occur. At the same time, increase propaganda for people in the area not to burn vegetation or slash-and-burn fields during these days.
