Ministry of Transportation’s Free Homecoming Reopens, Quota Available for 10 Thousand People

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Directorate General of Land Transportation (Ditjen Hubdat) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has reopened registration for free homecoming using bus transportation with a quota of 10,000 people for the homecoming and return traffic for Eid 2024/Idul Fitri 1445 Hijriyah.

“The Directorate General of Land Transportation has prepared another quota for 10 thousand people so that it is hoped that the community can make the best use of this quota. The system is the same as before, first come first served. With this, the Directorate General of Land Transportation provides a total quota of 40,088 people for free homecoming in 2024,” said the Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation Hendro Sugiatno in Jakarta, Friday (29/3/2024).

Hendro said that the Directorate General of Land Transportation had previously opened free homecoming registration since March 6 2024 with a quota of 30,088 for homecoming and return traffic. This quota has been fulfilled in the homecoming and returning destination cities.

He said that from the quota prepared there were 30,088 seats, consisting of 24,368 people for the homecoming flow and 5,720 people for the return flow using bus transportation. The Ministry of Transportation is also preparing 722 buses to transport homecoming travelers free of charge in the future.

“In detail, from the reopened quota of 10,000 people, the number of passengers for the homecoming flow was 8,680 people and the return flow was 1,320 people,” he said.

Hendro said registration for the entire quota will be carried out starting Saturday, March 30 2024 at 08.00 WIB via the MitraDarat application. Registration will close when the quota has been completely fulfilled.

The Ministry of Transportation mentioned the destinations for returning home, namely in 26 cities, namely Garut, Cirebon, Blora, Boyolali, Cilacap, Tegal, Demak, Jepara, Kebumen, Klaten, Magelang, Madiun, Pati, Malang, Pekalongan, Purwokerto, Semarang, Sragen, Solo, Wonosobo, Tulungagung, Tuban, Wonosari, Bengkulu, Palembang and Lampung.

“For the cities of origin of the return flow, there are seven cities, namely Semarang, Purwokerto, Solo, Surabaya, Wonogiri, Yogyakarta and Madiun,” explained Hendro.

He added that the free homecoming program during the Eid period was carried out by the government through the Ministry of Transportation to reduce the number of travelers traveling by motorbike, especially over long distances.
