Mobilization in Ukraine – ombudsman Lubynets appreciated the new law — UNIAN

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, has already signed the law on mobilization
Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmitry Lubynets commented on the new law on mobilization in Ukraine. In his words, “this is the best option we could have hoped for.”
“In my opinion, almost all of the principal comments that I sent as an authorized representative to the profile committee were taken into account,” he said at the briefing.
According to Lubynts, it is worth understanding that there are very heavy battles on the front lines now. Military personnel who are at the front should have the opportunity, in particular, to receive leave. But for this, it is necessary to increase the number of Ukrainians in the ranks of the Armed Forces.
The Ombudsman noted that, in his opinion, “now the procedure looks as democratic as possible, without coercion.”
“All conscripts must go through the procedure, in particular, checking their data in the register, and after that, those who do not comply with the law will be subject to the actions of democratic principles in our state. These TCCs apply to the NPU and exclusively to the National Police, opening criminal or administrative proceedings against persons who do not comply with the adopted law,” he said.
Law on mobilization: it is worth knowing
On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law on mobilization. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted draft law No. 10449 in its entirety on April 11.
According to the document, mobilization will take place from the age of 25. However, the upper age limit during general mobilization, as before, is 60 years for all categories of conscripts.
Retired American Major General David Grange believes that Ukraine needs to mobilize about half a million people. However, he emphasizes that it is necessary to conduct very thorough training for them.
