– An irrigation system is to be built. Until now, there was one that was used for both water distribution and snowmaking. They will be separate now. A mobile water cooling device is to be installed, he explained.

A new plastic matting is also to be laid, and the surface of the counter-slope has been changed. There will be no more grass (troublesome and expensive to maintain), but an artificial surface – Contractors are primarily to deal with the problem of drainage – added Wąsowicz.

He did not want to talk about the costs of the investment, as COS is responsible for it. As you can read in the tender announcement on the website of the Central Sports Centre: “the cost that the contracting authority intends to allocate to finance the contract in question: PLN 50,000,000.00 net”.

The competition in Szczyrk will be the second in the cycle. According to the original plan, this event was to open in Hinterzarten. However, in May, the organizers resigned from carrying it out. Ultimately, the first LGP competition of the season will be these in Courchevel (July 29/30).

In 2022 Kubacki won – for the fourth time in his career – the general classification of the Summer Grand Prix. He is the first jumper to achieve this. He previously did so in 2017, 2019 and 2020. Malysz and Thomas Morgenstern won the LGP three times. The second place in the series was taken by the Austrian Manuel Fettner – 210 points, and the third was Stoch – 182 points.
