Surat: Shopping center and a school without fire safety sealed by Municipal Corporation. Loktej Surat News

With the onset of summer in Surat, incidents of fire are also increasing. With the increasing incidents of fire, the Municipal Corporation’s fire department has also started taking strict action against properties without fire protection. Properties including shopping centers and gurukuls that did not provide fire safety facilities despite repeated requests from the municipal corporation were sealed.

Following the Takshila fire tragedy in Surat in 2019, the municipal fire department launched aggressive operations. Despite this work there are still significant delays in installing fire safety features in many properties. The work of giving notices is done from time to time by the fire department. However, with the onset of summer, incidents of fire have started increasing, now the fire department has done the sealing work.

Due to lack of fire safety in Raj Empire located at Maharana Pratap Chowk, Godadara in Limbayat Zone and Madhav Shopping Center located on Deodh Road, the fire department has sealed both these properties. Apart from this, a Sanskrit school Hemchandra Gurukulam has opened in Agam Shopping Center Vesu in Eighth Zone. The operators of this school were given notice twice for emergency exit and fire NOC. But no written or verbal explanation was given by the managers due to which these properties have also been sealed today.

Apart from this, the fire department has also started taking action against other properties without fire safety in the coming days.
