The fire of Trbena, in the province of Alicante, has been considered controlled in the last hours after there is still no flame in the perimeter, which has reached 690 hectares. The 180 evicted people from Trbena and Parcent will be able to return to their homes and the affected roads will remain open, but work will continue intensively to prevent flare-ups given the amount of combustible material in the area.
Tonight, 120 personnel remain working on the ground: forest firefighters, the Alicante fire brigade consortium and UME to carry out work especially on the right flank of the southern area, the tail of the fire, where there have been recurring reproductions.
The Emergency Department asks for caution since work continues to control and extinguish the fire. There is a lot of unburned area, a lot of fuel, very dry, and although the temperatures have dropped and are good, the breezes will increase tonight and there could be outbreaks.
The air resources withdrew early in the afternoon because there were no flames, according to the autonomous secretary of Emergencies. Javier Montero. Especially effective have been the tasks carried out on Tuesday night “to refresh the area, especially on the right flank of the southern area, which is the most worrying.”
The priority of the day was to insist on land work with some 200 troops of the Alicante Firefighters Consortium, the Forest Firefighters of the Generalitat and UME staff. “We are going to be cautious because we are facing the hottest hours of the day in which the conditions can give us some surprises due to the dryness and the amount of fuel that remains to be burned. What What we want to avoid is that there are active flames again and that is expensive hand work. Despite this caution, we are optimistic,” explained Montero late in the morning.
Regarding the return of the evictedwhich are 182 residents of Trbena, Parcent and Elisa Nezannounced after the plenary session of the Consell that the neighbors would be allowed access their homes to collect belongingsbut they will not be able to stay, something that has changed throughout the afternoon when the fire was considered stabilized.
The roads in the area have been opened to traffic but the Emergency Department asked cyclists in the area for caution, “because many times the trucks do not see them and the pumpers are difficult to handle,” clarified the regional secretary.
Two arrested
A father and his son were arrested on Monday and then released in connection with the origin of the Serra Ferrer forest fire in Trbena (Alicante). The Civil Guard took a statement from them about the burning that, presumably, got out of control and they also appeared before the court that coordinates the investigation.
