The court banned Portnyagin from using the Internet during house arrest

The Tverskoy Court of Moscow imposed a ban on the use of the Internet for blogger Dmitry Portnyagin, who was assigned house arrest in a tax concealment case, TASS reports.

“Under the terms of Portnyagin’s house arrest. Set the following restrictions for him: to use the Internet, as well as communications,” the agency quotes judge Alexandra Lashina as saying.

She emphasized that there are exceptions to this rule – for example, if the accused needs to call an ambulance, as well as communicate with defense lawyers and the investigator.

Lashina reported that Portnyagin will serve house arrest in a country house in the village of Martemyanovo near Naro-Fominsk, he is prohibited from communicating with other persons involved in the case and witnesses.

Earlier it was reported that the court granted the investigation’s request, sending Portnyagin under house arrest until June 10.

Let us recall that Portnyagin was charged with non-payment of taxes amounting to 124 million rubles (Part 2 of Article 198 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), as well as legalization of money acquired by criminal means on an especially large scale (clause “b” of Part 4 of Article 174 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) ). Portnyagin admitted guilt and fully reimbursed the amount. Portnyagin’s wife, Ekaterina, is a suspect in the same criminal cases.
