The reserve colonel assessed the prospects of expanding the APU bridgehead on the left bank of the Dnieper

Prospects for further expansion of the bridgehead of Ukrainian troops on the left bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson region depend on logistics. This requires a stable logistical connection between the two banks across the river.

Reserve colonel, military observer Vladyslav Seleznev told about this on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel. According to him, it is difficult to achieve stability of supplies now. The problem is that the bridges over the Dnieper River have been destroyed by the occupiers, and there is still no possibility of conducting pontoon-bridge crossings.

“The four bridges that connected the left and right banks of the Dnieper in this region before the full-scale war were destroyed by the enemy in the fall of 2022. It is an extremely difficult task to build pontoon-bridge crossings in the current conditions. The width of the Dnieper in this part is about 1,000 meters, plus the current is sufficiently powerful that it actually creates insurmountable obstacles for our engineering and technical units,” he noted.

However, even if such a crossing can be established, it will be difficult to guarantee its safety and security. It is obvious that the enemy will try to destroy it with the help of various means: both aviation, drones, and artillery.

According to Seleznev, the bridgehead should be expanded to a depth of up to 25 kilometers to the south, whereas now the depth of the bridgeheads of the Defense Forces reaches three or more kilometers from the Dnieper line.

“But how to do this, without having reliable armor support, without having the opportunity to fully redeploy our artillery, anti-aircraft defense systems from the right to the left bank? Unfortunately, there is no answer to this question. We can count on the fastest deliveries for the needs of the Ukrainian army air defense systems, the aviation component. We are constantly talking about F-16 fighters. And, of course, it is necessary to obtain additional resources, in particular artillery, because it is artillery that largely determines the course of military operations now,” the military observer stated.

The situation at the front: it is worth knowing

Natalya Humenyuk, head of the United Coordination Press Center of the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine, said that the number of attacks by the Russian occupation troops on the left bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson Region has somewhat decreased. At the same time, assaults remain infantry – armored vehicles are still protected by the enemy.

Meanwhile, Bild analyst Yulian Repke claims that Russian occupation troops entered the village of Novomykhailovka in the Donetsk region. According to Ego, the invaders already control 10-15% of Ego’s territory.
