In addition to these nominations, the Academy will present five special awards granted by the Board of Directors. Among them is the Award in collaboration with an Autonomous Community. In 2023 the collaboration was with the Cantabrian Community and the Award for “return to life” was awarded to Antonio Resines.

For this 2024 edition, the Canarian Community has been invited and is awarded ex aequo to the excellence and effort of two leaders of the performing arts: the Gran Canarian actress and producer Antonia Sanjuan and the Tenerife-born Vicente Fuentes, master of voice and verse.

Among the nominations that the Academy announced last Monday are the Tenerife singer Jorge de Leonas best male lyrical performer for his performance in ‘La Dolores’, and also from Tenerife Daniel Abreufor his choreography for the contemporary dance production titled ‘Dalet (Da)’.

The Academy recognizes Antonia San Juan for her «long and distinguished professional career in the field of interpretation” and also of production.

He has traveled through the most diverse theater scenarios, although we are especially familiar with his own monologues, which are impregnated with social criticism with a sneaky humor that launches great truths and lucid reflections. Despite his long stage career, it was cinema that gave him recognition at a popular level, with the representative role of Agrado in ‘All About My Mother’, by Pedro Almodóvar; and later television. He has directed, written and produced feature films and shorts, but he has always remained in the theater, his most inhabited house.

She is a producer, author, actress and even a businesswoman for a short time. There are emblematic texts such as ‘My daughter Mari’, which continues to be performed year after year, as well as ‘Mama Noelia’, ‘Other women’, ‘My struggle’, (which also includes texts by other authors), ‘Las que fanca’, ‘From the waist down’, among others.

Vicente Fuentes is awarded for being a «renowned voice teacher of the most prestigious Spanish actors and verse advisor to the National Classical Theater Company.

In fact, it is the great reference of voice and versedoctor from the University of Alcalá, Emeritus Professor of Voice and Language at the Royal School of Dramatic Arts of Madrid, Verse Advisor to the National Classical Theater Company, where he is also part of the laboratory for the training of young actors from La Young Company.

Collaborator with various companies for the productions of verse texts, as well as with the Royal Academy of Language, Teatro de la Abadía and other Spanish and international institutions.

He was trained in London with the Roy Hart and in Stratford with Cicely Berry, vocal director of the Royal Shakespeare Company; at the University of Lyon with professor of vocal pathology Guy Cornut. He is a founding member of the Roy Hart International Center (France), with which he participates in various research.

In 2013 he created Voice Sources, Voice Research Centerword and verse, whose priority objective is to apply its experience and knowledge through pedagogical and artistic meetings in the format of courses, seminars and colloquiums.
