A day before the premiere in South Korea, the performances of the Russian ballet were cancelled. The prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theater, a Putinist, was probably supposed to appear on the stage Svetlana Zakharova. Back in 2023, the theater itself decided to “punish” artists who condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine, so one can only guess what topics the actors were supposed to cover.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine initiated the cancellation of ballet in South Korea. Gosuchrezhdenie reported on Facebook that such a move brings the culture of the Russian Federation closer to complete isolation at the international level.
“At the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the tour of the Russian ballet in South Korea was canceled – our next step for the international isolation of the Russian Federation in the sphere of culture. “Thanks to the efforts of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Korea and the support of the Ukrainian community and international partners, the performance of the Russian prima ballerina with the Modans project at the Seoul Art Center and the Bolshoi Theater Ballet Gala Concert in the capital of South Korea will no longer take place,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
The performances of the Russians could take place from April 16 to 18 in Seoul, the capital of South Korea. Probably, the main role in the ballet “Modans” should have been played by Svetlana Zakharova, who is one of the most important characters in the original show. However, it is not known whether this could actually happen, because, as Reuters reports, the number of Russian actors had to be significantly reduced.
“Russian “cultural” propaganda should have no place on international platforms, and Russian ballerinas – on the stages of world theaters,” added the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Russian Consulate in South Korea commented on Facebook the decision of the organizers to cancel the performances.
“It is with great regret that we learned about the cancellation of the gala concerts of Russian ballet artists, planned as part of the commercial project of the company “Ballet&Model” on April 16-18. We share our deep disappointment with the many Korean worshipers and compatriots living in Korea, we look forward to meeting the masters of the highest level,” the consulate wrote.
In particular, representatives of the consulate recalled the cancellation of another Russian ballet starring Zakharova and noted a negative “trend in cooperation with Russia.” “We cannot help but see in these steps a certain trend in the South Korean side’s approach to cooperation with Russia now also in the cultural sphere. We must take this into account,” the consulate mysteriously informed.
Let us remind you that on March 15, the concert of the traitorous ballerina from Lutsk, Svetlana Zakharova, was already canceled by the organizer. The ballet was supposed to take place from April 17 to 21 at the Seoul Arts Center Opera House. The appropriate decision was taken as a safety measure for the audience and artists. The indignation of the Embassy of Ukraine in South Korea due to the spread of propaganda at the international level had a significant impact on this.
Earlier, OBOZ.UA reported that the appeal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs forced the streaming company HBO to say goodbye to Serbian actor Milos Bykovich, who supports the war and has a Russian passport. The actor was supposed to star in the third season of the popular series “White Lotus”.
