In principle, the professor assures, the university will not create a Faculty of Psychology. The ULPGC has a department of this discipline and those who promote the initiative have “no special interest since we are university workers,” says Castro. Thus, he continues, “it was our moral obligation to try. It seemed to us that, being psychologists, having done good work in other careers, we could not avoid the fact that the university did not have the title. We’re not even all from the Department of Psychology. “It has been a transversal union of between 30 and 40 psychologists who were at the university to prepare the degree.”

The preferred choice as a “second career”
