It is necessary to regularly improve knowledge of traffic rules in theory and in practice. Strict adherence to the rules helps to avoid accidents on the roads.
We offer to test your knowledge with the help of an interesting test. The figure shows a roundabout, which is indicated by sign 4.10 “Circular traffic”. How should a car driver drive?
Three driving options are offered to the car:
- A – entering a circle from the left lane to the left side;
- B – turning from the left to the left lane, but with subsequent movement to the right lane;
- B – reconstruction in front of the circle for entering the right lane and exiting from it;
- D – all options are correct.
Clause 10.4 of the Traffic Code establishes that before turning to the right and left, including in the direction of the main road, or making a U-turn, the driver must take the appropriate extreme position in advance on the roadway intended for movement in this direction, except in cases where a turn is made when entering an intersection , where circular traffic is organized, the direction of traffic is determined by road signs or road markings, or movement is possible only in one direction, established by the configuration of the carriageway, road signs or markings.
A driver making a left turn or a U-turn outside the intersection from the corresponding extreme position on the carriageway in this direction must give way to oncoming vehicles, and when performing these maneuvers not from the extreme left position on the carriageway – to passing vehicles. A driver making a left turn must give way to passing vehicles that are moving in front of him and making a U-turn.
That is, you can enter the circle from any lane.
Now about departure. This is stated in clause 10.5 of the traffic rules. The turn must be made so that when leaving the roadway intersection, the vehicle is not in the lane of oncoming traffic, and in the case of a right turn, it should move closer to the right edge of the roadway.
Exiting an intersection where circular traffic is organized can be done from any lane, if the direction of movement is not determined by road signs or markings and it does not create interference for vehicles moving in the right direction.
In the image, there are no vehicles with which the car driver can create interference, which means that he can both enter the circle from any lane and leave it. Accordingly, all options are correct.
